Twister –Some of My Favorite Things series
Some of My Favorite Things
I love the intimacy of small works, especially those packed with meaning that can be held in your hand. In this series, I set out to paint small scenes of symbols that have played an important role in my life, and also happen to be some of my favorite things (Sound of Music reference intended). I hope these small wearable pieces of art will act as reminders to explore the world, and see magic in the ordinary. I make each one of the pendants by hand starting with prints of the original watercolors. The glass cabochon slightly magnifies the work, giving the pendants an appearance from another time.
I’ve painted twisters for many years in many different forms. At times, they represent my struggles or difficult emotions and at others the power of ideas, sweeping through the landscape, or something new on the horizon. I like the idea of something so large being depicted on a miniature scale. I hope that this will act as a secret confidence booster, bringing the energy of a twister to the wearer.
