Shock and Awe

This silhouette is filled with the explosion from the World Trade Center on 9/11. It was such a life-changing moment for so many Americans. We looked at the world in a completely different way, before and after. The picture reference I used was from the cover of Time magazine, it is an image forever etched on my mind. I experienced a tremendous sense of cognitive dissonance, how could something so unspeakably horrible and tragic be so beautiful? It is a reminder to me that so much of life is not just one thing but many. The title refers to the campaign the United States waged on Iraq in 2003, which was justified in part by playing on the fears of the American people created by the 9/11 attacks.
