Artist Biography

Although I was born in New York, I spent much of my early childhood living in London and traveling all over Europe with my family.  I am sure that much of the art and architecture that I was exposed to while traveling through Europe was the basis for my love of art, especially Victorian paintings and medieval manuscript illuminations.  We moved back to the United States and after a succession of moves ended up at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Upperville, Virginia.  As a child I constantly drew and painted small compositions with a lot of detail.

I attended high school at Foxcroft School, Middleburg, VA and then went on to receive a B.A. in Eastern Philosophy with a minor in Art from Elon University, Elon, North Carolina in 1998.  I then attended The Corcoran School of Art to further my education in classical painting. In 2004 I received my Master of Fine Arts with a concentration in drawing and painting from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.  I have returned to the foothills of the Blue Ridge to begin a career in art.  Most of my days are spent in my studio drawing and painting or searching the woods and fields for new subject matter.
